The Factors report provides a focused way to analyze how participants prioritize one idea (the baseline) relative to all others. By comparing ideas in this context, you can uncover nuanced insights about participant preferences.
Here’s how to interpret and use the Factors report effectively.
What Is the Factors Report?
The Factors report ranks a single idea -- the baseline idea -- in the context of all other ideas. The report shows:
- Which ideas participants prioritize over the baseline (green bars).
- Which ideas are less prioritized than the baseline (gray bars).
You can also filter the results by segment to see how specific groups rank the baseline idea.
How to Use It
- Select a baseline idea to compare against others. Optionally choose a segment to analyze how specific groups prioritize the baseline idea.
- Use the chart and table to explore how participants prioritize ideas in relation to the baseline. The table below the chart provides a text-based view of the same data that you can download. If you’ve selected a segment, the CSV reflects the current filtered data.
Example: If you’re running an expairiment on ice cream flavors, choosing Vanilla as the baseline might show:
- Participants prefer Chocolate 2 times as much as Vanilla (green bar).
- Vanilla is preferred 1.5 times as much as Strawberry (gray bar).
These multiplicative scores allow you to make statements like, “Participants prefer Chocolate 2 times more than they prefer Vanilla”
Best Practices
Choose a Meaningful Baseline
The baseline idea sets the context for your analysis. Pick one that aligns with your goals.
Use Factors to Communicate Insights
This report makes communicating insights clear and relatable. Instead of showing a graph that someone must analyze, Factors allows you to tell them results in plain language. For example:
- “Participants prefer Idea A 3 times more than Idea B.”
- “Segment X values Idea C 2.5 times more than the baseline.”
Filter for Deeper Insights
Explore how preferences vary across segments to inform targeted decisions.
Export for Further Analysis
Use the CSV export to dive deeper into the data or share findings with stakeholders.
Final Thought
