Customizing the Goodbye Message and Button

The end of your survey is more than just a formality, it’s a chance to leave participants with a positive impression. pairLab makes it easy to customize your survey’s goodbye experience with a simple Goodbye Message and an optional Goodbye Button Link, which you can set in survey configuration.

Here’s how to use these features effectively.

Goodbye Message: Keep It Simple

Your Goodbye Message appears at the end of the survey. By default, pairLab provides standard text, but you can customize it to suit your needs.

The best goodbye messages are:

  • Short and sincere: A simple “Thank you for participating!” works well.
  • Clear and to the point: If you want to provide next steps, keep them brief.

Here are some examples:

  • “Thank you for your time and feedback!”
  • “We appreciate your participation. Your input helps us make better decisions.”

You can say more, but avoid overwhelming participants. If you have a lot to share, use the Goodbye Button Link to direct them to another website.

Goodbye Button Link

Want to guide participants to your website, a follow-up page, or additional resources? Add a Goodbye Button Link at the end of your survey. Here's how it works:

  • Enter a valid URL in the form of: https://mysite.com/
  • The button appears at the end of the survey, alongside your Goodbye Message.

A caveat: Goodbye buttons do not appear on surveys served through iframe code. If you’re embedding the survey on your site, the Goodbye Button Link will not display.

Best Practices for Goodbye Messages and Buttons

Start with a simple “Thank you.” Keep the message warm and appreciative-- your participants just helped you!

Add a Goodbye Button if there’s a next step. Only include a link if you have a clear purpose, such as:

  • Sharing more about your project.
  • Asking participants to visit your website.
  • Offering related content or resources.

Don’t overdo it. Too much text or too many links can confuse participants. Keep it focused.

Final Takeaway

The Goodbye Message and Button Link let you end your survey on a professional and polished note. Keep the message clear, add a link if it’s relevant, and leave participants with a great final impression of your survey.
